When I was in the First Grade in school, the name Joe
was very common. There were 13 girls and 12 boys in our classroom. Three
of the boys were named Joe. Coloring was fun, however we would lose
points if we colored outside the lines, therefore we had to be
very careful to only color within the black lines. Crayola Crayons were
very bright and colorful, however they did NOT taste as good as they
looked. Crayola Crayons came in boxes of 8, 16, and 32. Only the
rich kids had boxes of 32. I had a box of 8 crayons as did my two best
friends. I was so happy when my grandma bought me a big box of 16
crayons. Wow!!! twice as many colors. Twice as much fun! To this day, I
still don't know why I would need 32 colors of crayons.
Then we received out first book called Dick and Jane. "Run Spot, Run." - "See Dick" - "See Jane." During the Second Grade when we were learning how to read and speak to our classmates the name of Joe became very confusing for me and my two best friends, who were also named Joe. Little Joe was named after his dad. My other best friend was also named Joe. We three all became best friends because we were all named Joe. The teacher would ask, "Joe will you stand up and read page 13." --- We three Joe's would all stand up at once. The teacher would ask, "Joe will you stand up and tell us what is 3 plus three." --- We three Joe's would all stand up at once. The teacher would ask, "Joe will you come up to the blackboard." We three Joe's would all stand up and walk towards the blackboard. Each time the teacher would call out Joe, we three would respond and the class would giggle, snortle, and snerk. Finally, the teacher developed a solution. Little Joe became Joe One. The other Joe became Joe Two, and I became Joe Three. |
Thank you Wikipedia, because we did not need to log-in to see all the colors when I was in First Grade. Yes, we did love Cookies! But now, I don't care too much for Internet Cookies. Given Name, First Name, Forename, Christian Name
