My Favorite Texas Authors:
Kinky Friedman - Author of over 13 humorous books about Texas (aka The Great Lone Star State) Geez, Kinky could probably run for the Governor of the State and win!
Sophia Dembling - Award winning Journalist for the Dallas Morning News - Author of: "A Yankee Chic's Survival Guide to Texas."
Delbert Trew - Retired Texas Rancher and columist for the Amarillo Globe - Author of "Twice Told Tales of the LLanos Estacado."
Bill Russel - Retired Seaman and co-Author of "Twice Told Tales of the LLanos Estacado."
LLanos Estacado means "Staked Plains" - not "Steaked Plains" I think. They are located in the Texas Panhandle and the Highway between Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas is flatter than most pancakes. Will Rogers once traveled by Motor Car between Lubbock, Texas.
"It was the most "nothing" I've ever seen." - Will Rogers
We now have a High Speed Interstate between Amarillo and Lubbock, but y'all are still gonna see lots of nothin'. Only now it's faster.
